Tricia has been running the Whaletail for years and all her experience hasn’t gone un-noticed by most veggie reviewers, having been included in Good food guides. I have turned to eating meat as I’ve got older but I still feel like the Whaletail is a treat as it’s always brilliant food and a great atmosphere without being pretentious. It doesn’t matter if you go for lunch or just a cup of coffee and a read, it’s a relaxing place to be. During the summer, the outside area is a tranquil, landscaped garden that catches the sun all afternoon! My all time favourite is the Homity pie with Whaletail salads, which are exquiste!

Having been to The Whale Tail years ago during my student days, it was nice to return and enjoy some yummy vegetarian food. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious, so much so that we decided to return the next day for breakfast-which was filling and very tasty. Would recommend The Whale Tail to anyone – vegetarian or not. My friends who aren’t vegetarian loved it and it just goes to show that vegetarian food can be extremely delicious, varied and very satisfying 🙂

It’s always been difficult to find a place to eat regularly where the quality & service was at least acceptable. And i thought i was doomed to never eat a decent chocolate cake since becoming vegan, but no, they have a tasty tasty menu & the nicest cakes i ever munched. Also their portion sizes are SERIOUS! Dont wear tight clothes when you visit! Super friendly staff too.

Wow what can I say? We had smoked cheese,aubergine and mushroom lasagne, Homity pie and wonderful salads. The food at the whale tail is so full of amazing flavours I challenge anybody who says vegetarian food is boring. These dishes are some of the best I’ve tasted. The coffee is always wonderful along with some scrumptious home made cakes you have to try it. Fantastic and excellent value.

Just moved to the area and am always on the lookout for a place that does good, varied vegetarian home cooked food in pleasant surroundings, and my, does the Whale Tail fit that bill – most definitely yes! Friendly, helpful service too. We were lucky to arrive just before the lunchtime rush, ten minutes later and we would have struggled to get a table. We had the Homity Pie and a spicy bean burger, both served with a fab salad and a portion of great chips. Can’t wait for a return visit to try more choices!

I was dragged here, i have to say rather reluctantly by my veggie girlfriend and i have to say what a fabulous little place it is. We both had a veggie burger on my girlfriends recommendation and it was really tasty and well presented. There was a good wide range of dishes to choose from and an equally good selection of drinks. Service was excellent and the staff are lovely and helpful. Will definitely be back for another trip over to the dark side!
